Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ohio State Club Football team has not been given clearance to participate in any team activities by the Jan. 25 deadline, therefor must opt out of the potential 2021 NCFA Spring Season.
“Obviously we are disappointed,” said head coach James Grega, Jr. “Our players have not been together as a full team in over a year now. They miss the game and their teammates. The last year has been incredibly difficult for everyone involved. I am devastated for our seniors that lost their final year of football.”
While a Spring 2021 season is now off the table, Ohio State is hopeful that at some point during the spring semester, it will be able to resume some version of practice or organized workouts. The Buckeyes have not been allowed to hold any workouts or practices since the first week in March of 2020, and have not put on pads since winning the 2019 national championship in December of that year.
All prospective players that are interested in joining the team in the hopes that club football will be able to return to campus in Fall 2021, should fill out the recruit questionnaire featured on the team website.
The team will continue to meet virtually until the university approves in-person events or practices.
