Ohio State’s season-finale against Miami (OH) originally scheduled for Saturday, November 5 has been canceled after the Redhawks shut down their season Monday due to injury concerns and low roster numbers.
The Buckeyes will receive a forfeit victory for the second time this season and will finish with a perfect regular season for the fourth time in program history (2011, 2018, 2019, 2022). Ohio State’s seven victories ties last season’s output for second-most wins in a single season, two behind the perfect 9-0 record set in 2019.
Next up for the Buckeyes will be the Great Lakes Conference Championship Game against Michigan State. Ohio State defeated the Spartans 52-17 in Week 2 of the NCFA season, however MSU has rattled off four straight wins and now sits at 5-1 heading into its regular season finale against Loyola (Chicago). The Ramblers, who forfeited to Ohio State earlier in the season, are 1-5 on the year with their lone victory coming to Miami.
Ohio State has now qualified for the NCFA postseason each of the last four seasons. The Buckeyes lost to The Apprentice School in 2018 in the conference title game, but have captured two straight conference titles, defeating Coppin State 35-0 in 2019 and Wright State, 55-12, in 2021 for the conference crown.
The Great Lakes Conference Championship Game will kick off at Noon EST in Columbus on Sunday, Nov. 13. Admission will be free.
