Ohio State received word from Pittsburgh Club Football that it will be canceling its originally scheduled game for Sept. 30 in Columbus. The Buckeyes will receive a forfeit victory and move to 3-0 on the season.
The Pitt forfeit is the fourth in as many seasons for Ohio State. UW-Milwaukee forfeited to Ohio State in 2019, while both Loyola (Chicago) and Miami (OH) forfeited to the Buckeyes last season.
In its place, the Buckeyes have scheduled a game against Ohio Northern University’s JV program, set to take place on Wednesday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Ada, Ohio. It will be the first ever weeknight game in Ohio State Club Football history and will be the third NCAA JV opponent the Buckeyes will play this season, with Denison and Wittenberg already on the schedule in October. The Buckeyes have never played more than two NCAA programs in the same season prior to 2023.
The matchup will be the first ever between the Buckeyes and Polar Bears. Ohio Northern’s JV team comes in with a 2-1 record, with wins over Bluffton University and Trine (Ind.) University. Ohio State enters with victories over Oakland and Wright State in NCFA league play, prior to the Pitt forfeit.
Admission for the Buckeyes vs. the Polar Bears at Dial-Roberson Stadium will be free.
