Glorien Gough earns walk-on opportunity at Ohio State

Ohio State Club Football defensive back Glorien Gough is moving up.

Gough was officially announced, along with members of Ohio State’s incoming recruiting class, as an incoming Buckeye during a timeout at Ohio State’s spring game on Saturday. He will officially join the program for the summer semester.

The Mater Dei High School product earned a walk-on opportunity with Ohio State’s NCAA program after a tryout with the Buckeyes in late February. He becomes the first member of the Ohio State Club Football team to earn a walk-on opportunity since Chris Booker did so in 2019.

“We are very excited for Glorien as he takes the next step in his football career,” said Head Coach James Grega, Jr. “Coming from Mater Dei, Glorien already had experience playing at an elite level. After the stellar year he had for us, we have no doubt he is going to excel at the next level and be the next great Ohio State walk-on.”

In his freshman season with the Ohio State Club Football program, Gough impressed in multiple facets of the game. In nine games as a defensive back, he tallied 38 total tackles, five pass breakups and four interceptions. He also blocked a pair of punts on special teams and was named a 2023 NCFA First Team All-American.

His best game came against Michigan State in the Great Lakes Conference title game, in which he collected five tackles and a pair of interceptions. A third interception, which he returned for a touchdown, was nullified by a penalty. He also tallied an interception against Denison University and against Central GA Tech in the 2023 NCFA National Championship Game.

Gough (2024), joins Booker (2019-21), De’Shawn White (2017-18) and Eli Goins (2015-17) as the most recent Ohio State Club Football players to walk on to the NCAA program.
