Ohio State breaks NCFA record for points in a single game, defeating Wright State, 105-0

Ohio State Club Football set the National Club Football Association records for points in a single game and margin of victory on Saturday night in Columbus, defeating Wright State, 105-0.

The Buckeye defense forced a whopping 10 turnovers, blocked a punt for a touchdown and returned both a kick and a punt for a touchdown, while the Ohio State offense accounted for 10 touchdowns in the record-setting victory.

Running back Milan Jackson returned the game’s opening kickoff 79-yards for a touchdown before the Buckeye defense forced six straight turnovers to start the game. Each of Ohio State’s possessions in the first quarter started inside the Wright State 31-yard-line. The Buckeyes led 56-0 at the end of the first quarter, breaking the program and NCFA record for points in a single quarter.

The second quarter saw the Buckeyes score on defense and special teams. Ohio State’s Elijah Lowden blocked a punt that was recovered by Anthony Tulli for a touchdown, while wide receiver Jake Thompson returned a punt 55-yards for a score.

Offensively, quarterback Corbyn Aleshire accounted for eight first-half touchdowns, six of which came through the air. Thompson, Ricardo Washington, Desean Bonte, Tommy Delaney and Aidan Donovan all hauled in touchdown passes while running back Ethan Young added a pair of scores on the ground himself. Aleshire finished 13-of-19 passing for 244 yards while the Buckeyes rushed for just 78 yards on the ground.

Ohio State broke the record for points in a game by halftime, carrying a 98-0 lead into the locker room. Due to the lopsided score, the coaches agreed to eight minute quarters with a running clock in the second half. The Buckeyes would score just once more on a pick-6 in the end zone by freshman defensive end Austin Lynn.

Wright State did not take a sack on the day, opting instead to take their chances through the air. Ohio State took advantage and hauled in eight interceptions, two of which were returned for scores. In addition to Lynn, senior Reagan Little returned an interception for a score 54 yards just before the end of the first half. The Buckeyes had just one offensive possession in the second half which resulted in their only punt of the day.

The Raiders were held to negative seven yards of offense as nine separate Buckeyes accounted for a turnover defensively. Ohio State posted over 100 return yards on its interceptions alone. Wright State gained just one first down in the first half that wasn’t aided by a penalty.

The 105 points broke the previous record of 91, which was set by the Buckeyes two years ago against UW-Milwaukee. The victory also extended Ohio State’s winning streak to 17 games, which sets a new program record and is now just four wins behind the NCFA record of 21-straight, which was set by Oakland University from 2015-17.

Ohio State is set to return to action against Cincinnati United Prep on Sunday, Nov. 1.
