Caelan Allmon

Position: Special Teams Coordinator / Tight Ends

Bio: Caelan completed his first year as a full-time staff member in 2023 after a handful of years as a quality control volunteer.

In Caelan’s first full season on staff, Ohio State blocked a program record 11 punts in just nine games. Kicker David Rive converted on 75% of his field goals with a long of 35 and was named a Second Team NCFA All-American while long snapper Daniel Zirkle was named a First Team All-American.

In 2024, Ohio State’s special teams took a significant step forward under Allmon’s leadership. The Buckeyes scored three times on special teams as Jalen Haley returned a pair of kickoffs for scores while Lucas Fenstermaker returned a punt for a score. Haley was named a First Team NCFA All-American as a returner and kicker David Rive was named a First Team All-American after leading the NCFA in extra point conversions and hitting the longest field goal of the year in the NCFA, a 40-yarder against Ohio Wesleyan.

Caelan played tight end, linebacker and longsnapper for the Buckeyes in 2013, in which he was voted special teams MVP. He will serve as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach in his first year on the full-time staff. His touchdown catch against Loyola in 2013 was one of the main highlights in The Other Eleven documentary on the team that season.

Prior to his Ohio State playing career, Caelan was a two-year letter winner at Heidelberg American High School, where he was a captain (2011), two-way starter on the line and was a member of the 2010 undefeated national champion team.

After spending time in the military and then civilian sector, Allmon switched careers and now teaches high school social studies at Columbus Preparatory Academy.
