Eight Buckeyes named NCFA Academic All-Americans

Following an outstanding season in the classroom and on the football field, a program record eight Buckeyes have been named Academic All-Americans by the National Club Football Association (NCFA).

The eight Academic All-Americans follows a record 17 NCFA All-Americans posted by Ohio State, announced in December.

Johnathan Thiele: Sophomore, Running Back

In his first season as a Buckeye, Thiele not only fought through injury to have a great season on the field, he also excelled off of it.

Despite missing three games to injury, Thiele still tallied 41 carries, accumulating 312 yards and two touchdowns on offense, chipping in 11 tackles on defense and special teams. He did all this while also serving as the program’s treasurer.

Casey Scroggins: Junior, Wide Receiver

Scroggins put together arguably the most productive season of any Buckeye in program history, as he was named a First Team All-American on both sides of the ball in addition to maintaining his role as the program’s Vice President and a team captain.

Scroggins broke team records for receptions, receiving yards and interceptions in a single season in 2021 and was also named to the Dean’s List for the Fall semester.

Adam Bardak: Senior, Tight End

A five-year member of the program and multi-year starter, Bardak helped lead the Buckeyes to their first national title in 2019 as team President and captain. He returned in 2021 for his final season, helping Ohio State repeat as national champions and was named a Second Team All-American.

In addition to his on the field accomplishments, Bardak maintained a 3.6 GPA and was named to the Dean’s List in his final semester, graduating in December.

Spencer Moore: Senior, Tight End

A fellow senior tight end, Moore served as team President in 2021 and just like Bardak, helped the Buckeyes to a national title.

Moore caught seven passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns in 2021, including the final Ohio State touchdown in a 42-27 win over George Mason in the championship game. Also a reserve quarterback, Moore added 70 yards passing and a touchdown on 6-of-8 passing. Off the field, Moore maintained a 3.7 GPA and graduated in December.

Samuel Dominguez: Sophomore, Right Tackle

An integral part of Ohio State’s offense, Dominguez started every game at right tackle in his first season with the Buckeyes, helping the Buckeyes to their best statistical offensive season in team history.

In addition to his stellar performance on the field, Dominguez was named to the Dean’s List for the third time in four semesters, maintaining a 3.6 GPA.

Hunter St. Andre: Senior, Linebacker

One of the longest tenured members of the program, St. Andre put together arguably his best season in 2021. He accumulated 57 total tackles, second on the team, and was named a Second Team All-American.

Off the field, he maintained a 4.0 GPA and leaves Ohio State tied for fourth all-time in team tackles with 92.

Colby Stahl: Junior, Linebacker

In his first year with the Buckeyes, Stahl led the team in tackles with 69, good for second-most in a single season in team history.

He maintained a 3.9 GPA and was named to the Dean’s List in Fall 2021, in addition to being named to the Second Team All-American list by the NCFA.

Jeremiah Croom: Sophomore, Cornerback

Another first-year Buckeye, Croom put together excellent performances both on the field and in the classroom.

Maintaining a 3.4 GPA, Croom was also named a Second Team All-American in 2021 after he tallied 16 tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and seven pass breakups.
