Ohio State Club Football 2024 schedule features two NCAA programs, renewed rivalries

The 15th season of Ohio State Club Football is all but set.

The Buckeyes, coming off of their fourth straight conference title and fourth straight national title game appearance, have finalized the majority of their 2024 schedule. Ohio State is set to renew many of their usual rivalries, including one that has been dormant since 2011.

Ohio State is set to open the 2024 campaign at home for the first time since 2019, where the Buckeyes are set to take on the Xavier Musketeers, who are re-entering the club football ranks for the first time in 11 years. Xavier Club Football, which last took the field in 2013, is set to play as an independent program this season and is tentatively scheduled to rejoin the National Club Football Association in 2025. The Musketeers are led by team president and quarterback Christian Barbour, who has spearheaded Xavier’s return to the gridiron. The Buckeyes and Musketeers are set to play Sept. 14 at Lincoln Tower Park in Columbus. The two teams last met in 2011, a 27-7 Ohio State victory. The 2012 and 2013 meetings were canceled, resulting in forfeit wins for Ohio State.

After taking on Xavier, the Buckeyes are set for a trip to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Northern’s JV program. The two teams first met last season, a 46-7 victory for Ohio State on a Wednesday night. The Polar Bears are entering their first year under new head coach Andy Fries. The Buckeyes and Polar Bears will meet on Sunday, Sept. 22 with a time to be announced at a later date.

Ohio State will stay on the road in Week 3, traveling to Toledo to take on the Rockets in the Glass Bowl. The Buckeyes defeated the Rockets 66-9 in Columbus last season, and are 3-0 against Toledo all-time. Kickoff is set for Sept. 29 with a time yet to be determined. The Buckeyes are set to return home in Week 4 for its annual matchup with Wright State, the team Ohio State has played the most since joining the NCFA in 2012. The Buckeyes have not hosted the Raiders in Columbus since the 2021 Great American Conference title game, which was won by Ohio State, 55-12. Last season, the Buckeyes defeated Wright State, 48-0. The 2024 contest is set for Oct. 6 with a start time yet to be determined.

Following an off week, Ohio State is set to hit the road to take on Milwaukee University. The Buckeyes and Panthers have not met since 2014, a 27-24 Ohio State victory. A 2019 matchup was canceled by Milwaukee, resulting in a Buckeye win. Kickoff is set for either Oct. 19 or 20.

The Buckeyes will stay on the road in Week 7 and travel to Wittenberg University to take on the Tigers JV program for the second straight season. The Tigers handed Ohio State one of its two losses in 2023, defeating the Buckeyes 27-7. Kickoff is set for Oct. 27 with a time to be determined.

In Week 8, Ohio State will renew its rivalry with Oakland University in Columbus. The two programs have combined for four NCFA national titles, although the Grizzlies have had a few down years as of late. The Buckeyes defeated Oakland 69-0 last year, the largest margin of victory in program history. Ohio State has won the last five matchups against Oakland after dropping the first four. The rivalry between the two schools is one of the longest running in NCFA history, dating back to 2013. Kickoff between the two schools will take place Nov. 3 with a kick time yet to be determined.

Ohio State has an open spot in its schedule for Week 9, the final week of the NCFA regular season, and is actively searching for opponents.

Should the Buckeyes qualify for the postseason, the Great Lakes Conference title game would be played either Nov. 9 or 10 with the NCFA Semifinals scheduled for Nov. 16. The NCFA National Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7.

All NCFA games and kickoff times are tentative and subject to change. Stay tuned to osuclubfootball.com and @ClubFootballOSU on Twitter and Instagram for game changes and/or updates.
