Ohio State Club Football enters its 16th season with its largest coaching staff to date.
Despite the departures of Caelan Allmon and Ryan Walsh, Ohio State Club Football is set to welcome seven new coaches to the staff for the 2025 season, including five former players.
Newcomers Robert Smoot and Cameron Fullen join the Buckeye staff from the high school ranks. Smoot most recently served as a Defensive Coordinator in Braxton Miller’s 7-on-7 Charg1ng team in Columbus and also has experience coaching and playing in the Columbus City Schools system. Fullen, a former high school head coach, also has experience at the college level. He served as defensive line coach at Otterbein University in 2021 and was a strength and conditioning intern for the Tennessee Volunteers in 2022. Smoot will work primarily with defensive backs while Fullen will work primarily with the linebackers.
Former players Zach Davis, Johnathan Thiele, Sam Garber, Caleb Smith and Alex Strohm are all set to join the coaching staff in 2025. Davis, a First Team All-American in 2024, will work primarily as an assistant offensive line coach, while Garber and Smith will serve as quality control coaches with Garber assigned to offense and Smith to defense. Thiele, the program’s third all-time leading rusher, will serve as an assistant running backs coach. Strohm, the program leader in field goals made in a single season, will serve as a special teams assistant working primarily with kickers. Patrick Parrish, who spent 2024 as a student assistant, will now be in charge of running the wide receiver room.
Todd Thiele has been elevated to Equipment Director, but will still work with wide receivers as an assistant. Brendan McNeill has added the title of Special Teams Coordinator following the off-season departure of Caelan Allmon.
The 2025 season is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 20 on the road against George Mason University. You can see a full list of the Ohio State Club Football coaching staff here.
